URGENT CRISIS: HELP END THE STRAY DOG & CAT POPULATION IN PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MEXICO
Mexico has one of the largest populations of stray dogs in the world. More than 40,000 strays roam the streets of Playa del Carmen, Mexico alone.
Most of those strays are unaltered, unvaccinated, and suffering in an unpredictable environment. But the suffering doesn’t end there: it grows every day. Exponentially.
Just 1 un-spayed female dog and her babies can produce 67,000 dogs in 6 years. The only way to stop this cycle of needless suffering is to reduce homeless animals.
Meet SOS El Arca Animal Rescue. Their mission? Simple: to end animal homelessness once and for all. Through MASSIVE free 3-day Spay/Neuter Campaigns, SOS El Arca spayed and neutered 2141 animals in the first 6 months of 2022 alone.
Every campaign makes heroes of:
- 30 volunteers
- 4 surgeons
- 400 altered animals
SOS El Arca has the heroes ready to go… but they need our help to get them there.
HOW YOU CAN HELP!
Each campaign needs a sponsor to get them off the ground. Each 3 day Spay/Neuter Clinic costs $8,000. Already one campaign has been canceled this year because no one stood up to help them.
We won’t let that happen again. Our goal is to raise enough funds for a monthly Spay Neuter Clinic for the First Quarter of 2023. If they’re able to reach their aim of holding one Spay/Neuter Campaign a month, SOS El Arca could eradicate Playa del Carmen animal homelessness in just 3 years.
Stand up with Global United Foundation and Dogs I Meet to help SOS El Arca give voice to the voiceless. If you can’t donate, you can still make a huge difference by sharing with your friends and connections.
Total needed for this campaign $25,000

PUERTO RICO RELIEF PROJECT
Communities that never recovered after the hurricanes were facing much more dire conditions as a result of the 6.4 magnitude earthquake. Within just 30 days of that event, Puerto Rico endured over 2,400 earthquakes and the aftershocks continued.
People were afraid to sleep in their houses, sleeping in their cars or on chairs on their lawns, and many were fleeing the island to the mainland and abandoning their animals. There is a lack of clean drinking water, basic human hygiene supplies, food, and shelter. Animals additionally suffered from lack of these needs.
BACKGROUND
Since Hurricane Maria struck in September 2017, Global United Foundation (GUF) has been involved with the communities of Yauco and Guayanilla, in southern Puerto Rico. Our volunteers have been working and collaborating with partnering organizations who are rescuing dogs, fostering and providing transportation to the Northern states. Many of these animals were abandoned as a result of the catastrophe, which has exacerbated the urgent need for support. GUF has been paying for medical expenses and providing care for animals in foster or transit.
We continue to work on:
- Improving human health by improving animal health
- Helping domestic pets and providing them with care, food and medical attention
- Community education on how to better care for their pets
- Helping the stray animal population with a spay and neuter campaign
- Saving stray dogs and relocating them to new loving families in the States
We continue to need your help for Puerto Rico!
